Tom is the Principal for SWCA’s offices in Denver, Sheridan, and Bismarck. Based in Denver, he oversees staff mentoring, business development, client liaison, staffing, contracts, proposals, and financial management for the Rocky Mountain Region.
Tom joined SWCA in 1997 as a biological field technician and moved up the ranks to biological program director for Arizona and then office director in Tucson. Prior to joining SWCA, he was a field technician for Glen Canyon Environmental Studies. During his career, he has conducted surveys for endangered species — most notably the southwestern willow flycatcher, cactus ferruginous pygmy-owl, and Pima pineapple cactus — over thousands of acres of land in southern Arizona. Tom has contributed to SWCA’s scientific knowledge on Sonoran Desert ecology and developed substantial expertise in Endangered Species Act, National Environmental Protection Act, and Clean Water Act (Section 404) compliance. Tom holds a B.S. in ecology and evolutionary biology from the University of Arizona.
