Overview

SWCA was contracted to assist Cave Creek Water Company in preparing an Environmental Assessment (EA) for the Bureau of Reclamation to allow transfer of an unused Central Arizona Project (CAP) water allocation from Berneil Water Company. Cave Creek Water Company currently makes direct use of CAP water, and the transfer was critical to maintaining limited groundwater supplies into the future. The EA assessed the impacts of the water transfer, including potential impacts to biological, cultural, and groundwater resources and socioeconomic impacts.

Results

SWCA successfully guided the EA through Reclamation’s NEPA process, obtained a FONSI for the project and allowed the water allocation transfer to proceed, firming up water supply for Cave Creek’s future.
