Environmental Impact Report for the Easton Project
Sacramento County, California

Overview:
SWCA is collaborating with P&D Consultants to prepare an environmental impact report (EIR) for a proposed mixed-use community in Sacramento County. The plan calls for the development of up to 4,883 dwelling units, a variety of commercial and professional venues, parks, schools and supporting infrastructure. A key feature of the proposed project is the preservation and enhancement of approximately 300 acres of riparian woodland along Alder Creek. Traffic, biological resources, aesthetics and land use compatibility are other important issues that need to be addressed.

Services Provided:

  • Identifying all federal, state and local permits that are required for the project
  • Preparing the project Initial Study and Notice of Preparation (NOP)
  • Developing project alternatives
  • Evaluating impacts to various resources and identifying appropriate mitigation measures
  • Preparing the draft and final EIRs
  • Reviewing and responding to public comments
  • Participating in public meetings

Results:
For this ongoing project, SWCA staff is proactive in determining potential issues, closely monitors the current budget, and quickly executes change orders when the schedule delays and the applicant requests services which are out of the original statement of work (SOW). SWCA has worked closely with the client (Sacramento County, DERA), the applicant and subconsultants for technical studies to maintain the project schedule and ensure progress is made on the project.
