Section 7 Consultation and Conservation Management on the Lower Truckee River for the Pyramid Lake Paiute Tribe
Nevada
Overview:
SWCA worked with FishPro, Inc. in developing a conservation management plan for the recovery of Lahontan cutthroat (LCT) and Cui-ui as well as the restoration of the riparian corridor of the lower Truckee River, Nevada, above Pyramid Lake. This plan was completed in compliance with Section 7 consultation on increased water flows and lake levels.
The Plan included restoring habitat to foster the development of naturally sustainable populations of LCT and Cui-ui as well as increasing abundance of obligate riparian vertebrates associated with the riparian corridor. The Plan was approved by the Fish and Wildlife Service and resulted in water rights being restored to the tribe and control of the Stampede Reservoir flows procured. The Plan prescribes fishery, riparian and geomorphological management elements and includes a Water Management Plan.
