
Salt Cavern Gas Storage Project for Red Lake Gas Storage

Overview:
SWCA was retained by Red Lake Gas Storage, LLC to conduct biological, archaeological, land use, water resources, soils, and geologic studies as well as assist in the preparation of all required environmental resource reports for a salt cavern gas storage project located north of Kingman, Arizona. The project included the permitting of approximately 30 miles of natural gas pipeline to connect existing interstate pipelines to two natural gas storage caverns to be constructed within a massive salt deposit in the Hualapai Valley.
Services Provided:
- Completed the environmental report to support the 7C certificate from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC)
- Prepared a right-of-way amendment and Plan of Development for the Bureau of Land Management (BLM)
- Coordinated communications between the FERC and BLM to produce of Memorandum of Understanding
- Conducted Section 106 tribal consultation with the Hualapai Nation
- Held meetings in and around Kingman and conducted public scoping
- Assisted with state permitting
