Local Wetlands Inventory for the City of Ashland, Oregon
Ashland, Oregon
Overview:
The City of Ashland contracted SWCA to prepare a Local Wetlands Inventory (LWI) for compliance with Statewide Planning Goal 5, which requires all Oregon cities and counties to inventory natural resources and develop a program to protect natural resources and conserve scenic and historic areas and open spaces
Services Provided:
- On-site evaluation of wetlands and riparian corridors
- Mapped wetland boundaries and riparian corridors using GIS
- Assessed wetland functions using the Oregon Freshwater Wetland Assessment Method
- Determined locally significant wetlands and riparian corridors
Results:
SWCA prepared a report documenting site conditions and functions provided by each wetland and riparian corridor. GIS maps of the wetlands and riparian corridors were prepared to facilitate future site planning by the City of Ashland and the Oregon Department of State Lands. The results of the inventory were presented at a public meeting. The local wetlands inventory was submitted to the Oregon Department of State Lands for review and was recently approved.
