The New Mexico Interstate Stream Commission retained SWCA to provide natural resource services for the Upper Rio Grande Water Operations Review and Environmental Impact Statement (EIS). This project is an interagency effort to review and optimize water operations and delivery efficiency on the Rio Grande while improving riparian and aquatic habitat for threatened and endangered species in this complex river system.
Services Provided:
Provided a project manager and technical representation on behalf of the state of New Mexico
Directed the development of new aquatic habitat models, riparian vegetation inventories and mapping, and water quality models for the evaluation of proposed operations alternatives
Provided informal education/orientation as the client became integrated into new processes
Results:
The assistance SWCA provided in this project increased the client's ability to provide technical and managerial continuity over a long period of time.
