Maintenance Dredging and Floodplain Habitat Improvement Project

Overview:
SWCA was contracted to assist with the conversion of an industrial lagoon, excavated in the 1960s, into diverse and productive shallow water and tidal marsh habitat.
Services Provided:
- Designed habitat plans
- Obtained permits for the habitat enhancement project
Results:
SWCA fish, wildlife, soil and wetlands scientists were able to reproduce many of the functions of floodplain habitat types that were once common throughout the lower Colorado River. This project has benefited native plants, fish and wildlife as well as provided the client with a cost-effective dredged material disposal solution.
