Matt is an archaeologist and the Principal for SWCA’s offices in Albuquerque and Durango. He has more than 20 years of experience in cultural resources management, including international work in Bolivia and Peru.
Matt holds a Ph.D. in anthropology from the University of California, Berkeley, and a B.A. in anthropology from Stanford University. He has taught archaeology and anthropology at Stanford University and the University of Oklahoma and has had his work published in numerous scientific books and journals. Matt joined SWCA’s Denver office in 2007 as a cultural resources principal investigator and later was appointed cultural resources program director for Albuquerque. In addition to his extensive experience in management and business development, he has a strong technical and scientific background in settlement archaeology, lithic analysis, the archaeology of early agriculture, complex societies, and social evolution.
