Coleman Burnett Named 2021 Second Quarter Lawrence S. Semo Award Winner

Coleman Burnett, a Senior Project Manager/Natural Resources Planner with the New Mexico-Four Corners subregion, is the Lawrence S. Semo Scientific Achievement Award winner for the second quarter of 2021.

Coleman has developed tools and expert acumen in the realms of critical path planning, data management and interpretation, analysis methodology and authorship, and the rigorous use of informed results to enable sound decision making. She has expertise in a wide variety of resource management issues and brings her creative problem-solving skills to her work daily. She is an expert in regulatory and public policy and earned her American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) designation from the American Planning Association.

In addition to developing clients and executing on large, complex projects like the Cardinal-Hickory Creek Transmission EIS, Coleman is a valued and remarkable planning and project management coach and mentor, lending her considerable knowledge and best practice skills to many other projects and planners in the role of senior oversight.

The quarterly Lawrence S. Semo Scientific Achievement Award rewards individuals for demonstrating passion, creativity, and scientific excellence in a manner that advances SWCA’s purpose, mission, vision, and values. The award is in honor of Larry Semo, who began working as a biologist for SWCA in Austin in 1993 and transferred to Denver in 1999. A respected and widely published ornithologist and all-around naturalist, Larry had an insatiable desire to learn and a great love for the outdoors until his untimely passing in 2011.
