Growth is not a destination but an ongoing commitment—a core value we call Always Learning. It means embracing challenges, asking bold questions, and striving every day to become the best version of yourself while making a meaningful impact on your career, your community, and the environment.

SWCA's Career Landscape

We believe your career should be as unique as you are. The SWCA Career Landscape is a personalized guide and development process designed to help you prioritize your time and development energy as you gain experience across all three areas on your journey creating a meaningful and rewarding career at SWCA.

Whether your passion lies in deepening your scientific expertise, leading and inspiring teams, managing operations, or building strong client relationships, the Career Landscape helps you chart your course. When you’re unsure where your career journey might take you next, our culture of flexibility and learning allows you to try different paths to find your best fit or adjust your role based on changing needs. While your role may focus predominantly on one focus area, you can always flex your focus as your career develops.

How It Works

With the Career Landscape, you’re in the driver’s seat — but you’re never alone. We’re here to support you every step of the way as you shape your future at SWCA. Through our competency model we provide a common language for what success looks like.

Step 1: Discover

Uncover your strengths, interests, and aspirations to define what success looks like for you.

Step 2: Map

Chart your path through our career framework by setting clear goals and identifying opportunities to grow with a clear competency-based model as your guide.

Step 3: Develop

Build the skills, knowledge, and experiences you need to thrive and achieve your vision. This includes creating your own Professional Development Plan (PDP).

Career Focus Areas

SWCA’s Career Framework is organized into three Career Focus Areas—Organizational Leadership, Client Leadership, and Technical Leadership—ensuring that options for long-term learning and career growth are available to employees who have different strengths, motivations, and interests. Each path offers opportunities for growth, impact, and long-term success.

Providing different paths for career mobility

We know that our success is built on three core pillars: employees, clients, and science. To thrive, we need strong leaders in each of these areas—and that’s where our Career Focus Areas come in.

Whether you’re driven by advancing scientific expertise, building strong client relationships, or leading and inspiring teams, you’ll find a leadership track that aligns with your ambitions.

Your journey, your growth, your future—it all starts here.

Organizational Development Path

Lead people and manage operations to create a collaborative and efficient workplace. Organizational leaders focus on aligning teams, offices, and regions to drive success across the company.

Client Development Path

Build and strengthen client relationships as a problem-solver and business strategist. Client leaders focus on understanding the market, driving business growth, and achieving shared goals with clients.

Technical Development Path

Hone your expertise as a scientific or technical professional. Technical leaders focus on delivering high-quality, innovative solutions that set SWCA apart while continually advancing their craft.

A Path for Everyone to Grow

At SWCA, we don’t just offer jobs—we offer opportunities to grow and build a career that’s as unique as you are. Whether you’re just starting out or ready to take your next big step, we’re here to support you every step of the way.
