I am a dedicated recruiting professional with a passion for sourcing top environmental talent for SWCA. With over 12 years of experience in recruitment within the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) industry, I bring a wealth of knowledge and a results-driven approach to every search.
As the founder and Co-Lead of SWCA’s Christian Employee Resource Group (ERG), I am committed to fostering community and support within our organization. Outside of work, I am an active member of my church and enjoy spending time with my loving husband, Keith, and our two children, Kai and Kinsley Rose. In my free time, I love family game nights, stand-up paddleboarding, pickleball, and gardening.
Always tailor your resume to each position you apply for. Recruiters look for specific skills listed in the job description—if those skills aren’t on your resume, we may not realize you have them. Double-check your resume for proper grammar and spelling to make the best impression.
My first job was at age 15, working in the floral department of a local grocery store. Surrounded by natural beauty, I developed a deep appreciation for the environment. This early experience inspired me to join SWCA, where I am proud to support our mission of preserving the earth in its most original form.
I truly value SWCA’s unique culture, our employee ownership model, and the strong work-life balance we enjoy. The supportive environment and shared commitment to making a difference make SWCA a wonderful place to grow and thrive.
My 30+ year career has been dedicated to conserving the environment for future generations. My roles have varied from being a professional ecologist (butterflies), a US government technical advisor, and now hiring and motivating people so they can be the face of, and know-how, of environmental improvements. I bring this passion to work everyday and passed it along to my two (now adult) daughters.
We encourage applicants to take time to read the job description carefully and show how their unique skills and experience align with what we’re looking for. The most effective resumes focus less on appearance or fitting everything onto one page, and more on clearly highlighting your accomplishments and how they connect to the role you’re pursuing.
I was an environmental advisor for the US Agency for International Development’s Latin America and Caribbean Bureau. I was involved allocating and overseeing US tax dollars for biodiversity and rainforest conservation, especially in Brazil and Mexico.
When SWCA says that our employees are our most important assets, we mean it. It isn’t just propaganda on our website. We truly are a caring and collaborative organization, that values integrity and sound science or engineering.
With over a decade of recruiting experience in the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) industry, I have spent the past five years helping SWCA grow by attracting top-tier talent. When I joined, SWCA was much smaller, and I’m proud to have contributed to our expansion and success. My career began in the mental health field, working with children and teenagers, which ignited my passion for helping others find their path. I thrive on connecting with professionals at every level and guiding them toward fulfilling careers.
What excites me most is playing a part in SWCA’s ongoing growth through exceptional talent acquisition. I’ve witnessed remarkable advancements, from supporting the Southern California offices’ expansion to seeing the launch of SWCA’s Career Landscape and the evolution of our leadership development programs.
My first recruiting job was at a Tribal gaming casino, where I enjoyed the vibrant atmosphere of the entertainment industry. The ringing of slot machines was a daily soundtrack, and I learned invaluable lessons from my mentors that continue to shape my career today.
I appreciate SWCA’s progressive and forward-thinking approach, as well as the way our core competencies are woven into everything we do. Most of all, I treasure the incredible colleagues I work with every day.
With 7 years of recruitment experience, I’m passionate about building strong connections and helping people discover the right opportunities. Based in Fresno, CA, I enjoy life with my wonderful wife and our dog. Outside of work, I’m an avid sports enthusiast and a devoted LA Dodgers fan.
My first job was at a local restaurant, where I worked from age 16 to 27. I started as a busser and eventually became a server and bartender. The customer service, communication, and adaptability skills I gained during those years have been invaluable to my success in recruitment.
SWCA is a large organization that maintains a close-knit atmosphere. Our team embodies the company’s core values, creating a supportive and collaborative environment. I especially appreciate SWCA’s commitment to work-life balance, which helps prevent burnout and promotes long-term success. As employee-owners, we all take pride in the work we do and the impact we make.
As a Talent Acquisition Manager, I thrive on connecting exceptional people with purpose-driven opportunities in environmental consulting. I’m passionate about building authentic partnerships, mentoring my team, and infusing creativity and heart into everything I do. Whether it’s reimagining hiring strategies or discovering new ways to engage talent, I’m always ready for a challenge—and I never miss the chance to share a good laugh along the way.
My best advice? Be yourself and be specific. SWCA wants to know the real you, not just the bullet points on your resume. Don’t hesitate to share what excites you about your work. Enthusiasm, confidence, and authenticity make a lasting impression. The best conversations happen when you show up as your full self.
My first job was a part-time position at a summer camp, which mostly involved cleaning up after kids on school buses. Nothing builds character quite like scrubbing vinyl seats at 7 a.m.! That experience taught me patience, problem-solving, and resilience—and I’ve come a long way since those early days.
I love SWCA because our values are truly lived every day—in how we treat people, approach our work, and support one another. I’m grateful to collaborate with passionate, down-to-earth colleagues who genuinely care about making a difference. The spirit of curiosity, collaboration, and heart here is unlike anywhere else I’ve worked. SWCA is a place where I feel supported, challenged, and proud to be part of something bigger.
I am a detail-oriented team player passionate about creating positive experiences for new hires. I love helping people feel welcomed, informed, and ready to thrive in their new roles. At SWCA, I have the privilege of supporting meaningful work while collaborating with an incredible team. Outside the office, you’ll often find me enjoying a good book or hiking in the beautiful desert landscape.
Be genuine in your application and interviews—let your passion for your field shine through. SWCA is an open and inclusive scientific community, and we truly value hearing about what excites you. Don’t hesitate to explore new opportunities, even if they’re a little outside your comfort zone. If a role excites you, it’s a sign that it’s worth pursuing!
I love working at SWCA because growth and learning are encouraged at every level. It’s rewarding to be part of a company that invests in its people and supports professional development. I also appreciate our culture of giving back—it’s inspiring to be surrounded by a team that values community involvement.
I’m Coleen Ramos, part of the recruiting team and your welcome guide as you navigate the recruiting process at SWCA. Originally from San Diego, I relocated to Phoenix in 2013 and have loved it ever since. I graduated from San Diego State University with a degree in political science, and after working in construction defect litigation, I made a career change and joined SWCA. When I’m not working, I enjoy spending time with my puppy, Lucy, and hiking with my husband, Jesse.
I take a practical, people-centered approach—balancing candidate experience with business priorities. Whether it’s finding talent for technical or non-technical roles, I aim to bring in candidates who are a good fit both for the job and the team. Recruiting can involve a lot of moving parts, so I try to stay adaptable, organized, and open to learning. I care about doing thoughtful work and helping connect people with opportunities that make sense for them.

My first job was at SeaWorld, where I worked on the guest experience team. I loved greeting new visitors, providing personalized tours for large groups, and being surrounded by aquatic mammals—especially sea otters, my favorite!
I love SWCA’s collaborative environment and our “never settle” attitude. We work together as a team, always striving for excellence and moving toward our North Star.

My first job out of college was as a behavioral therapist working with children with disabilities. It taught me the importance of patience, empathy, and communication—skills I use every day as a recruiter. That experience shaped my approach to people: with compassion, curiosity, and a deep desire to help others succeed.
What I love most about SWCA is how much I’m valued as a whole person. The flexibility to work part-time while raising my kids has been life-changing, and it’s rare to find a company that truly upholds work-life balance. I feel trusted, appreciated, and empowered to grow both personally and professionally—and that’s something truly special.
I am dedicated to uniting individuals who are passionate about sound science, creative solutions, and the preservation of our natural and cultural resources. With a variety of exciting and diverse projects underway, we continue to lead the industry in sound science and creative solutions. I’m a proud San Antonio native living in Texas with my husband and our French bulldog, Murphy. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Communications from the University of Texas at San Antonio and bring seven years of full-cycle recruiting experience—including two years here at SWCA. I’m passionate about guiding people through their unique career journeys, helping them find roles where they can thrive and find real meaning in their work. Outside of the office, you’ll often find me swimming, reading, or spending quality time with my family.
If you’re applying to SWCA, take the time to learn about who we are and what drives us—principles like Never Settle, Always Learning, Gives Back, and OneSWCA are at the heart of our culture. I’m especially drawn to candidates who are passionate about the environment and can demonstrate that through their experiences and mindset. Remember, your resume is often reviewed within the first 10–15 seconds, so make it clear, concise, and highlight your most relevant skills up front. When your passion and expertise align with our mission, it truly helps you stand out.
I’ve always been in the business of people. My first job was in the service industry, where I worked as a server and bartender, eventually becoming a corporate trainer for server and bar staff. With over a decade in hospitality, I developed invaluable interpersonal skills—learning to engage with people from all walks of life and becoming approachable, articulate, and adaptable in my communication.
What I love most about SWCA is the people—everyone I’ve worked with is kind, supportive, and united by a shared passion for meaningful work that improves our environment. Being employee-owned creates a culture where every voice is heard and everyone is invested in our company’s future. I also deeply value the flexibility SWCA offers, especially in today’s world where many companies are returning to rigid office requirements. Our remote, hybrid, and hub models reflect a true commitment to work-life balance, making my job as a recruiter even more rewarding. I could go on and on—SWCA truly sells itself.
