Award Winning Story

While out on a survey, an SWCA crew assisted getting a vehicle unstuck from a high-centered sand situation on a remote road. One of our staff members spent several hours driving to the incident location and gathered all the needed field supplies to help get our field crew back on the road. The crew spent several hours digging the vehicle out of the sand to relocate the vehicle and ensure it could be used for the following day’s surveys. The crew showed exemplary safety recognition in reporting the situation, remaining calm and professional throughout the incident and followed their safety training accordingly. All crew members also demonstrated extremely positive attitudes throughout the entirety of the stressful situation, which was greatly appreciated. Each individual played a key role in solving this logistically challenging field mishap thereby helping to prevent any further inconveniences or issues.

Safety Star Program

The Safety Star Program rewards employees who demonstrate safe behavior and provides employees an opportunity to recognize the exemplary efforts of others by nominating coworkers. The great stories submitted provide us with an opportunity to learn more about the hazards our colleagues face both on and off the job, and the positive actions performed to help mitigate those hazards.

While safety is every employee’s responsibility, a “Safety Star” displays exceptional efforts in safety.
