Description

SWCA developed a model to support data-driven decision-making for integrating agrivoltaics into utility scale solar sites. This tool provides structured economic analysis, enabling solar developers to assess financial feasibility, cost-benefit trade-offs, and operational efficiency of various vegetation management approaches. The model compares traditional mowing with scenarios incorporating solar grazing, farming, robotic mowing, and mixed-use strategies. It uses multi-criteria analysis to quantify economic and sustainability benefits, including financial metrics (Net Present Value, Return on Investment, Payback Period), scenario modeling for site specific optimization, and environmental and community impact assessments. Visualization tools enable clear comparisons and evidence-based decision-making. This tool empowers solar developers and policymakers to strategically integrate agrivoltaics, optimizing land use for long-term economic and environmental resilience.
