Description

SWCA provided cultural resources services in support of the LA Plaza Cultura Village mixed-use development project in downtown Los Angeles. Services included pre-construction mechanical trenching to identify and document archaeological features, which resulted in the recordation of 35 features including the structural remains of at least four buildings, several drainage features, a leach pit, a privy, a root cellar, and 10 other refuse deposits. These features, dating from the 1880s to the 1930s, were collectively designated the Buena Vista Street site, which was found eligible for the California Register of Historical Resources. SWCA implemented a data recovery plan to mitigate project impacts to the resource without delaying construction.
