About the opportunity

SWCA Environmental Consultants is an industry leader in natural resource permitting and ecological restoration. Our Philadelphia, PA office provides a unique work environment that fosters innovation and collaboration across various environmental projects. As a Staff CAD Designer, you will work closely with our Project Engineers and Scientists to support a wide range of environmental initiatives.

This is a regular, full time, hourly position that offers a hybrid work environment. Priority will be given to candidates who are already located in the Philadelphia area. 

What you will accomplish

  • Support the implementation and maintenance of company-wide CAD standards.
  • Produce CAD products for natural, cultural, paleontological, and other environmental resource projects using AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Incorporate attributes from diverse data sources, symbolizing features, and manage file imports/exports across various formats.
  • Create production and field maps based on metadata, data sets, and geo-databases.
  • Utilize feature lines for site grading and earthwork balancing.
  • Perform earthwork volume calculations.
  • Assist field crews with GPS-grade surveying and data collection.

Experience and qualifications for success

  • Associate's degree in Geography, Cartography, CADD Drafting, GIS Technology, or a related field with an emphasis on GIS (or GIS/CADD certificate).
  • At least two (2) years of experience in CADD/GIS technology, field data collection techniques, data integration to CADD/GIS, and troubleshooting equipment and digital files.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Experience with ArcGIS 10.0-10.1 and AutoCAD Map 3D.
  • Previous experience in natural or cultural resources management, remote sensing, or permitting is a plus.

An employee in this Philadelphia, PA based position can expect an hourly rate of $32.02 to $41.57/hour. Actual pay within this range may depend on experience, qualifications, geographic location, client requirements where applicable, and other factors permitted by law. Regular-status employees are also eligible for performance bonuses.
