SWCA Environmental Consultants was recently recognized with two awards from the Environmental Business Journal (EBJ) and Climate Change Business Journal (CCBJ), recognizing strong business performance and meaningful contributions to large-scale river restoration. These awards reflect a year of disciplined growth, strategic investment, and continued delivery of science-based environmental solutions nationwide.

EBJ Business Achievement Award

2025 EBJ awards medallionIn 2025, we reported more than $420 million in total sales, representing over 8% year-over-year growth. This performance reflects sustained client demand across environmental planning, permitting, compliance, and restoration services, supported by strategic investments in people, operations, and service delivery.

We expanded our geographic footprint with new offices in Boise, Idaho; Riverside, California; Gainesville, Florida; and Minneapolis, Minnesota, strengthening regional presence and enhancing client support nationwide. We also celebrated 25 years as a 100% employee-owned company, a milestone that continues to drive shared accountability, innovation, and long-term performance.

Operational investments included continued expansion of our ecosystem of resources for project managers, the launch of a redesigned website to better serve clients and communicate technical services, and the introduction of Sustainable Field Practices. Guided by principles to reduce waste and respect the environment, these practices extend our commitments into field operations while prioritizing safety and practicality.

CCBJ Project Merit Award

2025 CCBJ awards medallionWe received a Project Merit Award for our role as a vital subcontractor to Taplin Environmental on the Plainwell Dam Removal and Channel Restoration project along the Kalamazoo River in Allegan County, Michigan. The project is a key component of the Kalamazoo River Superfund Site cleanup, addressing legacy industrial PCB contamination and supporting the removal of Beneficial Use Impairments within this federally designated Area of Concern.

Following dam spillway removal, we remediated and enhanced more than 7,000 linear feet of riverbank and 12 acres of floodplain. Restoration elements included installation of over 300 in-water root wad habitat structures, native seeding across restored areas, and planting of more than 1,450 native trees and shrubs. Together, these efforts restored natural river flow, improved water quality, supported fish migration, enhanced floodplain function, and created a more resilient river system that delivers lasting ecological benefits for both wildlife and the surrounding community.

Continuing the Momentum

These recognitions reflect our commitment to pairing strong business fundamentals with technically rigorous environmental solutions. We remain focused on supporting our clients, investing in our people, and delivering work that creates measurable environmental and community benefits.
