Gainesville office marks fifth SWCA office opening in Florida in the last six years

SWCA Environmental Consultants (SWCA), a 100% employee-owned firm, recently opened a new office in Gainesville, Florida. This strategic move enhances SWCA’s ability to serve clients across the Sunshine State and Southeastern United States while attracting top-tier talent.

SWCA’s Principal Project Manager Karl Bullock relocating gopher tortoises in support of a new renewable energy center in Central Florida.

“Opening the Gainesville office represents our commitment of strategic growth further into central Florida, allowing us to better serve our clients with localized expertise and a dedicated team,” said Matt Zoss, vice president of the Southeast region at SWCA. “This office is a testament to our priority of building a larger presence in the Southeast and our ongoing commitment of providing high-quality environmental consulting services and building lasting relationships with our clients throughout the United States.”

The new office is in one of Gainesville’s most beloved historic districts, the Duckpond neighborhood located just northeast of downtown. The location offers convenient access to nearby restaurants and coffee shops, the University of Florida, and the Gainesville Regional Airport.

SWCA’s team of specialists provide expertise in environmental planning and permitting, wetland delineation and mitigation design, avian and terrestrial threatened and endangered species surveys and Endangered Species Act (ESA) Section 7 consultation, siting and routing studies, and geospatial analysis.

In Florida, SWCA largely serves the power industry, including energy generation and transmission, in addition to mining and land development sectors. SWCA also supports clients in the area with National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) compliance, cultural resources management, ecological and coastal restoration, wildfire planning, and water resources services. Our Gainesville office is currently focused on supporting the continued growth of utility-scale solar photovoltaic generation facilities in Florida, assisting our clients with state and federal wetland permitting, listed species assessments, and local government site plan approvals.

SWCA is experiencing significant growth in the southeast area of the United States, celebrating five years of its Pensacola, Florida, office and opening a Tampa, Florida, office in 2023. While employees are located across the state of Florida, SWCA also has physical spaces in Jacksonville and Ft. Lauderdale. In total, SWCA boasts more than 1,700 employees across 45 offices nationwide and in Mexico.
